We share the following statement, first issued in late September 2026.
Eternal Glory to the Martyrs of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood!
“The only language that the enemy understands is the language of revolutionary violence. The armed struggle is the main curriculum for our protracted conflict that we are waging against occupation and against attempts to liquidate our struggle through attempts at settlement, which have begun again in some areas of our Arab homeland and impose a totally unacceptable occupation upon some parts of our Arab land. We are fighting against the enemy in every land where the feet of his soldiers march. This is our historical approach – where we are going until we reach the stage where we open a wider front against the enemy and turn our land into a burning hell for the invaders.”
Strategy1 for the Liberation of Palestine (1969), Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).
“This is my will; do not lay down your weapons, do not put down the stones, do not forget your martyrs, and do not bargain away the dream that is your right.”
The2 Last Will of Martyr Yahya Sinwar (2024).
Gaza is a rectangle-shaped piece of land in the Southwest corner of Palestine which is about the size of Portland, Oregon. It borders Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, which connects West Asia to Africa. Gaza is an Arab land, wherein Arab peoples have lived for thousands of years. It is home to churches, mosques, and even entire neighborhoods that are among the oldest in the world.
Much of Gaza is very old, but at the same time, much of Gaza is very new given its long history. Mazes of underground tunnels, bombed out high rises, stones being thrown at tanks, barbed wire on top of tall border walls; the images that may automatically come to mind for many Americans when they think of this place in the world reflect recent developments, all of which are consequences of the Israeli Occupation of Palestine.
The population in this small piece of land exploded in 1948 when Zionists forced hundreds of thousands of Palestinians out of the rest of Palestine. Zionism was then, and is now “a racial-religious movement [that is] trying to organize and recruit Jews in all parts of the world to support Israel, protect its aggressive existence, and consolidate and expand this existence…it is really and basically a material support that provides Israel with more people, more money, more arms, more technical knowhow” (Strategy For the Liberation of Palestine, PFLP). Zionism in action has meant that since its very first day in 1948, the State of Israel has made a massive population of permanent refugees. Many of these refugees were forced to settle into eight refugee camps in Gaza. This massive internal displacement marks the end of Gaza, the contiguous part of the rest of Palestine, and the beginning of Gaza, the Israeli concentration camp sealed off from the rest of the world.
The World Zionist Movement, which had its roots in the 1800s, consolidated into the modern State of Israel in 1948. This is why the State of Israel is often called “the Zionist Entity.” From its earliest days, there have been profound differences between what Israel is in the heads of Zionists and the imperialists in league with them, and what Israel actually does in the real world. Part of this Israeli cognitive dissonance is expressed in this unsolvable problem: Israel is supposed to be both a democracy and a Jewish state, and it cannot really be either of these things. Israel cannot be either of these things for two reasons. First, the State of Israel was founded upon, and continues to be constructed on top of Palestinian people and land which have always been there, and second, Israel exists to serve imperialism. Imperialism is the final stage of capitalism on the eve of socialist revolution, where capitalism is in a state of decay. Israel’s genocidal acts in Gaza since October 7 do not stand outside of what Israel is based on: military occupation, backed materially in every way by imperialism, and carried out by a Jewish settler class over a population that is mostly Arab, Muslim, and Christian. The deepening of the crisis of imperialism has only aggravated these problems, materially encouraging the most reactionary and psychopathic elements of Israeli society to subjugate the Palestinian people, so that Israel can remain a projection of US power in West Asia.
Beginning in 1967 and ending in 2005, the State of Israel physically occupied the interior of the Gaza Strip. Occupation during this time period took the form of a twenty one settlements throughout Gaza, housing a stable population of about eight thousand Zionists, surrounded by two million Palestinians. Maintenance of this occupation required a strategy similar to those employed in the US to oppress and terrorize Black people. This means Israel relied heavily on nonstop state-sanctioned violence, as well as violence from lynch mobs, armed ultra-reactionary groups, and individual settler violence against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, which still did not resolve the fundamental problems for Israel: there is no Jewish State without the occupation of the Palestinian people, and there is no real chance for democracy so long as the occupation lasts.
In the Israeli political establishment, there has never really been a consolidated opposition against the Occupation. There was some nominal opposition to parts of the occupation, people who may be called “Liberal Zionists.” Real opposition to the occupation of Gaza coming from Israel could have involved a lot of things: letting Palestinians in Gaza return home, making tangible steps towards a Palestinian State, or granting some democratic rights for Palestinians living under Israeli Occupation. None of these steps were taken because it would have threatened Israel’s Jewish majority. At its most progressive, the position of Liberal Zionism on the occupation of Gaza did not amount to much more than advocating for some of those trapped within it some limited freedom of movement in the rest of Occupied Palestine insofar as it enabled the exploitation of labor, or a stance of non-opposition to some of the expectations of occupying powers imposed by international law. On the other hand, there is what is sometimes called “the ultra right wing” of Israel. Israeli right wingers are generally opposed to any form of Palestinian statehood, their obligations under United Nations law of occupying parties, and are even opposed to exploiting labor from Gaza. Over time, this section of the Israeli political establishment that consistently desires murder of the Palestinian people over exploiting them have triumphed over the Liberal Zionists.
In May of 2005, Ariel Sharon, the then Israeli Prime Minister, attempted to strike a balance between the “right wing” and “liberal” Zionists with the scheme of “unilateral disengagement.” Unilateral disengagement means the continued occupation of Palestine without the physical presence of Israeli settlers within it. Sharon appeased the less outwardly reactionary parts of the World Zionist Movement by selling this shift as a move towards lasting peace without the Israelis really giving up the Jewish majority, while he also made conditions for the expansion of the ultra right-wing reactionary parts of the Zionist Movement by slamming the door shut on any connection between Gaza and the rest of Occupied Palestine. It is worth noting that “unilateral disengagement” was originally “The Separation Plan.” The name was later changed to “unilateral disengagement,” because “separation” evoked images of Apartheid South Africa. Changing the name of what it was called did not change what it actually meant: locking the door and throwing away the key on Gaza so that Israelis could live a completely separate existence from Palestinians in Gaza, while continuing the occupation in an even more sinister form and setting the stage for another genocidal assault on the Palestinian people.
Unilateral disengagement marked the end of Liberal Zionism as a current within the Zionist Movement with any influence over Israeli politics. Between 2005 and 2023, the Israeli State reached new depths of reaction through policies like “putting Gaza on a diet,” and “mowing the grass.” This means calculating the amount of food allowed into Gaza so there would not be enough calories per person to sustain a healthy human life, and periodic indiscriminate military incursions to suppress the population. Israeli Occupation also took on new levels of arrogance during this period, demonstrated by the repeated desecration of the Islamic holy site of The Dome of the Rock throughout the 2000s and 2010s, and the moving of the US Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to West Jerusalem in 2018. These actions represented significant provocations in the region. Seemingly drunk on their own delusions of victory, the Zionists, in subservience to US imperialism and the complicity of the liberal “international community” acted as though they could get away with anything.
Unilateral disengagement for Israelis was intended to be a slow death sentence for Palestinians in Gaza. For seventeen years, Gazans struggled under this continued occupation in a new form. Chocolate, razors, baby bottles, potato chips, children’s toys, hearing aid batteries, wedding dresses, and many other commodities were all made illegal by the occupation at different points. An entire generation of Palestinians in Gaza reached adulthood with many of them never having physically left the Gaza strip. International solidarity activists who sought to break the blockade were murdered at sea and thrown into prisons. In their arrogance and deepening reaction, the Israelis failed to understand that repression does not resolve the contradiction between imperialism and oppressed nations, and that, as the Palestinian revolutionary Ghassan Kanafani said: “the history of the world is always the history of weak people fighting strong people, of weak people, who have a correct case, fighting strong people, who use their strength to exploit the weak. This people, the Palestinian people, prefer to die standing than to lose its case. [The] Palestinian nation is going to continue fighting until victory. “ (1970, Ghassan Kanafani Interview with Richard Carleton).
Apparently the Israelis had started to believe their own lies: that the Palestinian Resistance had already lost, and that the “Israeli Defense Forces (IDF)” were an unbeatable army. Nearly all possible cultural avenues for criticism of the blockade of Gaza were thoroughly censored, and Israeli citizens who opposed the occupation were systematically isolated in Israeli society. It stands to reason that while there is a generation in Gaza that never left its borders, there is a generation in Israel that hardly learned anything true about Gaza.
On the international scale, US imperialism suffered repeated defeats throughout the 2000s in West Asia. As the imperialists were drawn deeper into “forever wars” in Iraq and Afghanistan, maintenance of the special relationship with the Zionist Entity took on a new quality of importance. It’s no surprise that Benjamin Netanyahu, the arch-reactionary Israeli Prime Minister, was an avid supporter of the Iraq War from its earliest days, and vehemently opposed the withdrawal of US troops in its final days. He knew the stated reasons for the invasion of Iraq were lies, but he also knew that the invasion of Iraq meant more money, weapons, and political connections for Israel. Israeli politicians like Netanyahu used this period of disengagement from the Gaza Strip to make military, social, and political preparations for a campaign of genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza. The Israeli political establishment was effectively given the green light to do whatever it wanted to the Palestinian people, and it wanted to make the Palestinian people disappear. This new flavor of genocidal bloodthirst, fueled by significant failures of US imperialism in West Asia was not shown for the first time in the aftermath of October 7th, but in the cycle of repeated military campaigns against the people of Palestine in general, and especially in Gaza and the West Bank throughout the 2000s. Understanding that the situation had to change, the men and women of the Resistance Factions of Palestine in Gaza began preparations for a military offensive that could eventually shift the balance of power in the favor of the Palestinian people.
On October 7th, 2023, Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine joined forces as the Joint Operations Room of the Palestinian Resistance Factions, and broke through the walls of Gaza in Operation Al-Aqsa Flood. It was clear from the first moments of the offensive that this heroic operation had been prepared for a very long time right under the nose of the Occupation, and was coming as a total surprise. The gunfire of the Resistance at the break of dawn on October 7th began a new era in the advanced unraveling of the Zionist Entity, and its safe to say that neither Israel, or the US have recovered since.
US imperialism and Israel were thought to be unstoppable. But the Palestinian Resistance showed that the world’s sole imperialist superpower is nothing more than a paper tiger, and is basically powerless to stop the swelling tide of anti-imperialist action. When it comes to Gaza, the US imperialist class finds itself deeper in a problem it cannot resolve, and in its desperate attempts to resolve the problem, it only opens new waves of a global anti-imperialist movement. These waves, coming from the Axis of Resistance (AOR) – the Palestinian Resistance Factions, Ansarallah in Yemen, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and the Islamic Republic of Iran – are striking harder and harder blows to the imperialists. In its coordinated military action, the AOR shows itself to be the most capable United Front against imperialism in at least a generation, mobilizing masses by the thousands and millions to fight and win against US imperialism. Because of what began in Gaza on October 7th, US imperialists are evacuating their military bases in West Asia and moving their personnel into civilian hotels. We know the extremely expensive and impossible to quickly replace weapons of the US imperialist bases in West Asia; their Iron Domes, Patriot Missiles, THAAD systems (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) are eating themselves alive when the cheaply made and abundant drones of Resistance are flying in their skies. The question that must be on their mind of US Army Generals, evacuated from their bases and sitting in hotel high rises in the Gulf Countries: what will happen to us on the day US missile stockpiles are finally depleted?
The Palestinian Resistance Factions in Gaza do not have the Iron Dome, or unlimited access to American taxpayer dollars like Israel does. They have an unbreakable connection to the land, their lives to give to the struggle, and the political will to win. People of conscience must never forget the immeasurable loss of life and human suffering wrought by more than one thousand days (and counting) of genocide. We must not only remember the extreme tragedy of the loss of at least seventy three thousand Palestinians in Gaza, but also remember that the Palestinian Resistance has not stopped defending the land and people of Palestine for even one day. From the single fighters holding Israeli military bases for hours by themselves, to the martyrdom of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, who died at the front lines of the battle, to the daily survival of a people under conditions of acute famine, the fighting has never stopped. The imperialists may spin the complicated political situation to make it seem as though the Resistance has given up, but this is all just lies. Through not only statements, but in demonstrated action, the Palestinian Resistance Factions have never given up the arms of their people, and they never will.
This immense courage shown by the Palestinian Resistance is the fuel for millions of people around the world waking up to fight the decrepit system of imperialism, and especially their number one enemy, US imperialism. Each martyr in Gaza is a life that is given for Palestine, and also for the emancipation of every man, woman, and child from the shackles of imperialist aggression; the blood shed by the militants of Gaza serves the highest tasks of humanity – the liberation of oppressed people from imperialist domination, through world proletarian revolution bringing in the end of exploitative class society. The fires of revolution that were lit in Gaza are spreading to the West Bank and all of Occupied Palestine, Yemen, Iraq, Lebanon, Iran, and even in the United States and Europe; soon the whole world will be organized against imperialism.
Since October 7th, the people of the world demonstrate an even stronger understanding of who their friends and enemies really are. We have seen the Palestine Action Network lead the longest and most successful hunger strike in UK history in opposition to Israeli defense contracts with the UK government, while the UK imperialists criminalize the words “I support Palestine Action, I oppose genocide.” We have seen Georges Abdallah, the man serving the longest sentence for supporting Palestine (41 years!) liberated from French prison following a powerful international anti-imperialist campaign, while French imperialists weakly attempt to imprison him again. We have seen the Executive Committee of the Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement (Masar Badil) jailed and sanctioned by the US imperialists for supporting the resistance and trying to organize a militant anti-Imperialist movement. Operation Al-Aqsa Flood gifted the world a great new wave of international anti-imperialist struggle . This new wave is defined by its historic progress in its level of organization, as we can see with the founding Congress of the International Anti-Imperialist League in April of this year, uniting 14 countries from all continents together as one powerful fist. The success of this Congress was directly impeded by US imperialism, with bombings in Ecuador forcing the Congress to relocate to Colombia with just a weeks notice. From all of these valiant examples, we learn that repression does not have to be a bad thing, and even that “to be attacked by the enemy is not a bad thing but a good thing” (Mao Zedong, 1939). Each arrest, sanction, sentence, and even life given to oppose the monster of imperialism waters the gardens of revolutionary action.
The imperialists have an understanding of this as well. This is why they are terrified of the combination of the two currents in World Proletarian Revolution – wars of national liberation in the oppressed nations of the world, and proletarian revolutions across the globe. They said as much at the Munich Security Conference in February of this year, where the Islamic Resistance and the resurgence of Communism were specifically highlighted as severe threats to the United States and its allies.
The US imperialists feel this fear to such an extent they feel the need to share it publicly because the Palestinian Resistance unleashed Pandora’s Box in the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation, and there is no power on Earth strong enough to put it back in the box. Prior to October 7th, Sinwar said, “Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem are a red line. If you want more time to stay, then stay away from Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem. The decision to eliminate your State depends on whether you intend to implement your plans for Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem” (May 26, 2021). Schemes to nail the coffin shut on Palestinian life by taking Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque have been exposed. Greater Israel is decaying while the Resistance is advancing, and the Resistance will not stop advancing until Palestine is free from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, and the struggling people of the world are victorious over the imperialist system. Anti-imperialist activists must consider it the highest duty to truly honor the sacrifice and advancements made by the martyrs of Al-Aqsa Flood Operation of 2023. We honor the sacrifices not only in sharing the grief of the whole world over the immense loss of Palestinian life, but to advance the revolutionary anti-imperialist struggle in our own country in greater and greater leaps.
“Mercy and eternity to our righteous martyrs… Freedom to our heroic prisoners… Healing for the wounded and injured… And freedom to our great people3.” (Joint Operations Room, October 2024).
